Welcome to Tideswell Theatre
Tideswell Theatre was established in 2002 to bring great theatre, music, dance and comedy to the village. It is run by Tideswell Community Players (TCP), who have been performing plays in the village since 1930. Tideswell Theatre is a leading promoter for the rural touring scheme, Live and Local, bringing professional theatre, dance, music and comedy to the village as well as contracting directly with performers. There have been over 90 visiting shows since then, and many hundred TCP productions.
We use a range of venues in the village, including the fantastic Tideswell Community Hall and the Theatre at FSC, or at St John’s Institute, but at times even the magnificent Tideswell Parish Church (the Cathedral of the Peak): we are lucky to have a range of possible venues in the village from the large and impressive to the small and intimate. We are able to choose the most appropriate venue for the event. We’d love to hear from potential performers or your recommendations.
This website contains news about forthcoming shows. In time we’ll add photos and information about our long history of performances in the village stretching right back to 1930. In the meantime there are plenty in the photos and albums sections on the Tideswell Theatre Facebook page
We’re always looking out for more archive photos or anecdotes so please make contact now if you have any.
